We are excited to announce that a frequently requested feature will soon be available for VIP Access subscribers on our Fussy Vegan Pro app (iOS only).
Offline mode will enable you to scan and search for products even when you do not have any internet connection.
The reason our app is a "live" database is that we want to ensure that you are seeing the most up to date information regarding a product. If the vegan status of a product changes, we can instantly update the database and you will always see the most up to date information.
As many shopping centres have horrendous cellular connectivity (and free wifi in the shopping centre is also normally nothing to write home about), the new offline mode will essentially put the entire database onto your device and whenever you are connected to the internet, the app will update any changes or new additions to the database. Sounds simply, but it has been a long process to make this work just right and we are still doing some final touches to the feature before we can release the feature.
Offline Mode FAQ
1. Why will offline mode only be available to VIP Access subscribers?
There is considerable expense in developing this feature and the only way we can make this available is to make it a subscription only feature.
2. Why is the VIP Access subscription not available on Android?
We would love to provide the subscription (and related features) to our Android users, but at this stage, it is just not economically viable to bring this to Android at this time. If the situation changes in the future, we will certainly relook at it.
3. If I already have an existing subscription, will I have access to offline mode?
Yes, all current subscribers will gain access to the new feature once we push the update for the app to the App Store.
4. When will offline mode be available?
We hope to have offline mode available by the end of the year, pending App Store approval of course.
5. Can I turn off the offline mode feature?
Yes, offline mode will be an opt in only feature. If you don't want the app taking up more space on your phone, you can choose not to use offline mode. All subscribers will have to go into the app settings and turn on the offline mode once available.
